About Elixirs
Elixirs are sweetened extracts, made with a combination of tinctures, decoctions, honey, or glycerites to create a well-balanced, shelf-stable formula.
We love elixirs because they give you all of the benefits of a tincture with a bit of sweetness to help the medicine go down. Elixirs also include multiple different types of extraction mediums, making them a simple way to imbibe a plant’s spectrum of healing benefits. Elixirs are generally warming and moistening, due to the honey or glycerin content, but the energetics of an alcohol-based formula (like all extracts) will vary depending on the herbs it contains.
Elixirs can be taken on their own sublingually, in a glass of water or juice, added to a cup of tea, or made into a mocktail. Since the spring of 2023, we have shifted to using organic gluten-free cane alcohol for all of our tinctures but older bottles may contain organic gluten-free grain alcohol.
