About this herb: Myrtle is one of the central plants of Judaism. Used in ritual, food, medicine, incense, and perfume. Myrtle is often used during the ritual of the naming of infant boys, during their circumcision, placed in or around their bed, at Havdalah, at betrothal ceremonies, making crowns for bridegrooms, blessing new homes or businesses, and placed near the deceased. It is heavily used within Jewish rituals for love. It is one of the four plants blessed on Sukkot. Myrtle tea is often utilized for issues of the lungs.
